EPA Launches National Electronic Hazardous Waste Tracking System

On Friday, June 29, 2018, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced  a new Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest System (e-Manifest) to improve access to higher quality and more timely hazardous waste shipment data. The new system is expected to save industry and states $90 million annually in time and resources.

Beginning June 30, 2018, users must submit all manifests, whether paper or electronic, to EPA's e-Manifest system. Receiving facilities will pay a fee that varies based on how the manifest is submitted. The year-one fee is estimated to range from $4 for electronic manifests to $20 for mailed paper per manifest. It is reasonable to assume that receiving facilities will past this cost on to their customers.
