NCDEQ Releases 2018 Year in Review

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) has posted on their website a statement of key achievements and a summary of  specific programmatic activities in 2018. Key achievements include:

  • Governor Cooper's Executive Order 80, giving DEQ a leadership role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing energy consumption in state-owned buildings, and increasing the number of zero-emission vehicles
  • Secretary Regan's establishment of the Environmental Justice and Equity Advisory Board to advise DEQ in the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies
  • The 500th brownfields redevelopment project, representing a programmatic milestone

Numerous program activities where highlighted, including hurricane response, opposition to federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) rulemaking, registering concerns to U.S. Department of Interior about offshore drilling, and emerging contaminants investigation. See the full list at
